Rodrigo is a multimedia artist and designer teaching and working on the moving edge of digital media, with an appreciation for the traditional foundation of the visual arts and graphic design. As a designer, Rodrigo worked with various clients, artists, advertising agencies, design studios, production houses, scientists and marketing consulting firms, including Barclay's Bank, NASA, MTV, NEC, Palm, Apple and GM.

His projects include motion graphics, experience design, TV commercials, printed publications, web sites and interactive multimedia. His work was recipient of research grants, the NASA Software of the Year and the Forbes best of the Web awards, and it was featured in printed, televised and online media, as well as exhibited in museums, galleries and festivals around the globe. 

Bio

Rodrigo de Toledo, was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1966. Initially trained as a musician and fine artist. He started his painting education in 1981, followed by the degrees: Computer Science Associate (1987), Bachelor of Fine Arts (1992), and Master of Fine Arts (School of the Art Institute of Chicago - 1995). In 1987, he opened a computer animation studio, which evolved into a graphic design studio in 1990. Since then he has been active in the digital art and graphic design fields. As a designer, he worked with clients from diverse industries in Brazil and in the U.S., creating pieces for several media, such as TV commercials, printed publications, web sites and CD-ROMs.

He participated on several art videos and collective shows worldwide. De Toledo’s fine art work received awards and grants, and was published and exhibited in Europe, South America, North America and Australia. The nature of his projects ranges from digital imaging, interactive and net art, animation, installation, sound, and painting, or any combination of those.

In 1995 Rodrigo joined NASA’s Educational Multimedia Research & Development Group as an Art Director, where he developed Interactive Learning pieces and technologies. In 2002, after working as an Interactive Design consultant in San Francisco for three years, he joined Northern Arizona University as a Professor of Visual Communication.

Most important art projects: the video-animation "Logod" (1990); the digital paintings exhibition "Virtual Anatomy" (1993 sponsored by Coca-Cola Co. and IBM); and the CD-ROM "Uneaten Future" (1995).
